Is 5 GB enough?
For a text-first team, comfortably. For a team that pastes screenshots and screen recordings into every thread, 5 GB per Block-hosted community is a quarter, not a year. Measure your current chat tool's media growth for one month before you assume.
Is 365-day retention enough?
It is longer than BAND's Free tier by a factor of 365. It is shorter than most retention obligations that carry a legal number. If you have one of those, an independently operated relay is the path, because then retention is your policy.
Does the 5-community cap matter?
For a single team, no. For an agency running one community per client, it is the first wall you hit, and it arrives at client six.
How should you read a movable limit?
Plan against today's number, not the promise. A limit marked as movable can move up, and the vendor is signalling exactly that, but the only number you can operate against is the published one.
